South Start is yearly conference for independent investors, entrepreneurs and start ups. I was approached in late 2014 as a freelance designer to create a visual identity for their second annual conference.
The organisers wanted to improve their visual image to appeal to a more design focused audience. The previous approach taken involved using photography, in contrast I used type and a simplified graphic.
A modified monospaced typeface was created to reference the coding background many of the attendees have. Combined with the Risograph printing technique, a unique look that perfectly communicates the do it yourself approach and youthful demographic of the start up scene was achieved.
